Vancouver Special

Thanks to Jennilee from walkingdistance.etsy.com for introducing me to the architecture style know as a "Vancouver Special" - sort of like a Canadian split level. I'm totally ready to make a new series of work dedicated to these amazing homes. Now I just need to find a way to get out there to take some photos, which really isn't going to happen any time soon. So the other solution is to find some photos to use to begin the series. If anyone sends me a photo that I end up using in a painting, I will give them a print of the piece and credit as the photographer. Anyone? Anyone?

Box Set

I recently found the work of artist/designer Stephanie Levy (Memphis born, now living in Munich) on Etsy and I became an instant fan. I'm especially obsessed with her "Trendfarben" series, where she collages and paints on boxes that jut out from the wall by 3-6 inches. They work alone or together - on the wall or stacked on a shelf. Her 2-D work is beautiful as well.

Art I wish I owned

I came across the photography of Carlo Van de Roer on the 20 x 200 site a couple months ago. The compositions and colors are incredible. Makes me consider abandoning my images of houses and only doing pools from here on out, but he's already done it so well. Guess I'll stick to houses with above ground pools.
